Two New Panelists Added To LOL Seminar

The Post-Journal reported that two more panelists have been added to the Laugh Out Loud (LOL) Seminar being held in March by the Lucille Ball-Desi Arnaz Center.

The two new panelists are Christina Carroll and Sebastien Gendry. Carroll is an artist and the daughter of legendary "I Love Lucy" writer, Bob Carroll Jr. Gendry is an author, educator, motivational speaker and yoga enthusiast.

Lucie Arnaz, president of the Lucille Ball-Desi Arnaz Center and host of the panel expressed her excitement about Carroll and Gendry participating in the event:

With Bob Carroll’s recent passing, Christina has a lot to share about how laughter helped those close to her father get through the past months.

I feel particularly drawn to the work of Laughter Yoga. I’m looking forward to Sebastien’s teaching me — as well as the audience — how to do some serious laughing.

Desi Arnaz Jr., Sean Astin and Jim Dunnigan are also members of the panel.

LOL will be held March 3 in Boulder City, Nevada. Seating is limited and all tickets are $20. For more information call the Historic Boulder Theatre at 702-293-1161 or visit lucy-desi.com.

Lucie Mentioned In NY Times; Carol Burnett Writes Jamestown

Lucie Arnaz's attendance at The Great American Songbook Show last Friday was noted by The New York Times:

The other guests included Melissa Errico (effective when she relaxed and sang softly), Lillias White and Capathia Jenkins (both agreeably sassy) and Lucie Arnaz (dramatic but metallic).

Actress Carol Burnett sent an affectionate letter to the residents of Jamestown, New York:

To Everyone in Lucy’s Hometown:

As you know, Lucille Ball was my good friend.

To her, I was ‘‘The Kid,’’ and she was a tremendous teacher and mentor. Her passing left a hole in my heart that can never be filled.

I am thrilled to know of the work you are doing to preserve Lucy and Desi’s legacy. And you are correct in recognizing that it is a legacy of more than props and costumes and personal belongings: it is truly a legacy of love and laughter.

Should the stars ever properly align, I would welcome the opportunity to visit Jamestown and celebrate her legacy with you.

One hundred years from now people around the world will still be laughing at Lucy’s antics. And I hope that for those folks who want to learn more about that wonderful clown, her hometown will still be honoring the one and only Lucy.

Warmly,

Carol Burnett

Burnett's letter was published in The Post-Journal.

Lucille Ball To Be Honored at TV Land Awards

Thanks to LLL member, Claude (morethanonesubject), for this news! Claude writes:

Was watching Regis and Kellie today and while they were doing their annoying patter, Regis started making fun of her for hosting the next TV Land awards and generally putting the awards down, so she shot back that Carol Burnett will be on and that there's this tribute to Lucille Ball and that her kids will be on the show too. TALK ABOUT GETTING A SCOOP!

The 2007 TV Land Awards will air on Wednesday, April 25 at 9 PM Eastern.

Lucie Leads "The Pack" In May

"The Pack", an independent film starring Lucie Arnaz as Eleanor Jordan, will be released by in May. Here's an excerpt of the film's synopsis from The Pack's Official Website:

"The Pack" is inspired by real life stories and documented cases where secondhand smoke is believed to be the cause of a loved ones death. In The Pack, an ambitious District Attorney prosecutes a wife on three counts of murder after her forty-seven year old husband dies of lung cancer from breathing her secondhand smoke for thirty years. In a wrenching twist, it turns out that the District Attorney is acting at the request of the couple's twenty year old son. At first, the jury struggles with what appears to be a ridiculous case, but as one juror delves deeper into the facts, the jury finds itself drawn into an intriguing, emotional and complicated choice regarding individual responsibility.

More Info on Lucie Hosting The Hall of Fame Ceremony

The Lucy-Desi Center reports:

Jamestown, NY -- As president of the board of directors of the Lucille Ball-Desi Arnaz Center in her mother’s hometown, Jamestown, New York, Lucie Arnaz shared some personal reflections on being asked to host the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in Beverly Hills this week.

The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Hall of Fame honors individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to television: on-camera legends and pioneering talent that include directors, producers, costume designers, writers, animators, executives, reporters and explorers. Since the first ceremony in 1984, more than 100 of television’s notables have been inducted. Past honorees include Lucille Ball, Johnny Carson, David Sarnoff, Walter Cronkite, Milton Berle, Walt Disney, Bob Hope, Mary Tyler Moore, Barbara Walters, Angela Lansbury, Oprah Winfrey and Carl Reiner.

In addition to hosting, Ms. Arnaz will also be the presenter for the induction of talk show host Regis Philbin. California’s First Lady, Maria Shriver, will induct Tom Brokaw; Viacom Chairman and CEO Sumner Redstone will induct television and film producer Leonard Goldberg (Charlie's Angels, Starsky and Hutch, Brian's Song); former Chairman and CEO of NBC and co-founder of MTM Enterprises, Grant Tinker, will induct award-winning producer/director, James Burrows (Will and Grace, Cheers, Frasier, Friends), and equestrian Elizabeth Shatner will induct Emmy-Award winning actor William Shatner (Boston Legal).

In sharing her anticipation of Thursday’s event, actress and producer Lucie Arnaz related that she was asked to host it by the ceremony’s producer, Sam Haskell, whom she described as “a great friend and mentor. I was thrilled to be invited. And, as a special favor to Sam, I will also be singing a little number towards the end of the show, just because he asked!”

Ms. Arnaz added, “I have appeared on the show twice, once in the early 80’s when my mother was inducted. I sang a wonderful touching piece of special material written by Larry Grossman, ‘My Mother, The Star’. Again, after my father passed away, both Desi (Jr.) and I were there to accept for him when he was inducted.”
