TV Land Starts A Lucy-Desi Blog

Ric Wyman, director of the Lucille Ball-Desi Arnaz Center, is the blogger of the new Lucy-Desi Blog at TVLand.com.

Wyman stated, "I’m really looking forward to the weeks and months ahead as together -- you, me, and TV Land -- celebrate the memory of that zany redhead and that dashing, talented Cuban -- both of whom are still so much a part of all of our lives."

Lucy Marches On TV Land

Today Pavan Badal of SitcomsOnline.com reported that "I Love Lucy" will not be removed from TV Land's weekday schedule in March. This news comes almost two weeks after Badal announced TV Land planned to restrict "I Love Lucy" to the weekends.

Starting March 7, TV Land will now be showing "I Love Lucy" weekdays at 11:00 AM and weekends from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM. This information is subject to change.

TVLand Removing "I Love Lucy" From Weekday Schedule

(Mike)LucyShowFanatic writes:

Fellow Lucy Fans:

According to Sitcoms Online, I Love Lucy will be taken off the weekday line-up and be placed on the weekends from 10am to 12noon.

Please register (if you haven't already) at TV Land Boardroom/Online and tell them that you want "I Love Lucy" on daily. We need to let them know how upset we are or else the treatment of anything Lucy will just get worse.

Thanks to LLL member LucyShowFanatic for bringing this important change to our attention! Sitcoms Online stated that "I Love Lucy" will be replaced with "Leave It To Beaver" and "The Munsters" starting March 5.

Lucille Ball To Be Honored at TV Land Awards

Thanks to LLL member, Claude (morethanonesubject), for this news! Claude writes:

Was watching Regis and Kellie today and while they were doing their annoying patter, Regis started making fun of her for hosting the next TV Land awards and generally putting the awards down, so she shot back that Carol Burnett will be on and that there's this tribute to Lucille Ball and that her kids will be on the show too. TALK ABOUT GETTING A SCOOP!

The 2007 TV Land Awards will air on Wednesday, April 25 at 9 PM Eastern.

Lucy Apart of TVLand's 'Myths and Legends' Series

TVLand Press Release:

Wednesday, January 31, 10 p.m. - "Film Frights & Red Scares"

Was Lucille Ball ever a Communist? Did an unemployed ice cream truck driver win over $100,000 on the game show Press Your Luck by memorizing the supposedly random patterns on the game board? Is Long Island's Amityville Horror house really haunted? These are just three of the mysteries explored in this episode of TV Land Myths and Legends.

Lucy Absent From TV Land's Top Catchphrases List

Maureen Downey of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports:

On television, women are treated like children: They are there to be seen, not heard.

In a list of the 100 greatest TV quotes and catchphrases of all time, only four were spoken by female characters.

Compiled by the TV Land cable network, the list lionizes Lurch on "The Addams Family" for "You rang, sir," but leaves out Lucille Ball for her plaintive "Ricky!" and her pathetic "WAAAH."

Lucy is not the only grand dame of TV comedy overlooked. Carol Burnett's musical catchphrase — "I'm so glad we had this time together" — doesn't merit mention either. Nor does Emily Litella's "Never mind." Another Gilda Radner character, Roseanne Roseannadanna, would reach into her mailbag each week and always pull out a question from "Richard Feder of Fort Lee, New Jersey."

Not on the list, though.

I, too, was surprised there wasn't a single "I Love Lucy" reference on TV Land's list. No "Lucy, I'm Home!" or even some "splannin'" by Ricky.
